PRECEDENT SETTING CHILD PROTECTION

LEGISLATION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY

 

 

At last night’s Town Board Meeting, Resolution Number 2007-99 amending the code of the Town of Huntington, Chapter 194 Child Protection Act detailing sex offender residency restrictions and Resolution Number 2007-100 amending Chapter 198, zoning, accessory apartments, were unanimously passed by the Town Board.

 

“Nothing is more important to me than the safety of our Town’s children,” said Huntington Town Councilman Stuart Besen, who proposed the changes in legislation, “and now we have a powerful tool in which to enforce these measures.”

 

Today, the map outlining the newly expanded and enhanced sensitive areas of 1350 feet from schools, parks, licensed day care centers playgrounds and day camps and pinpointing the locations of Level 2 and Level 3 convicted sexual predators, has been posted on the Town of Huntington website.
