Councilwoman Berland shares her "Guide to Wood Burning" with members of the community
|
Huntington, NY - In the midst of these cold winter months,
it is important to remember that although our fireplaces and woodstoves keep us
warm, using them improperly can result in devastating effects for one's health
and the environment. In an effort to protect the environment and to
educate the public on the correct way to use wood and coal burning devices,
Councilwoman Susan A. Berland sponsored legislation to limit the use of
controversial outdoor wood burning drvices, which have been labeled as a public
hazard by the New York State Office of the Attorney General. Additionally,
the councilwoman authored a pamphlet with helpful hints to keeping fires burning
safely in the Town of Huntington.
Councilwoman Berland is proud to announce that her pamphlet, "A Guide to
Wood Burning: How to Safely Use Coal and Wood Burning Devices" is now
available to print on the Town of Huntington website under the "Featured
Resources" heading. This pamphlet is a convienent resource for all
fireplace and woodstove owners.
Hard copies of Councilwoman Berland's "A Guide to Woodburning: How to
Safely Use Coal and Wood Burning Devices" are available in the Town Hall
and local fireplace retailers. For more information on Councilwoman
Berland's legislation or her pamphlet, feel free to call her at
