Councilwoman Berland Honors League of Women Voter's Leader

Huntington, NY - Councilwoman Susan A. Berland along with the Huntington Town Board, honored Rosemarie Sepanksi with a proclamation for her outstanding leadership with the League of Women Voters.

 

All in all, Rosemarie has had over 24 years of leadership experience with the organization.   She joined the League of Women Voters Huntington in 1973 became co-President from 1981-1983 and then President from '83 until '87 when she took a position as Vice President until 1995.  For the past 10 years she has been the President of the Organization. 

 

While with the organization she has represented the League of Women Voters on issues such as National Security, Reproductive Choice, Women and the Law and Court Monitoring.  She has also lobbied public officials in Albany in support of the Bottle Bill and the Equal Rights Amendment.  She has conducted studies on Heathcare in New York State, Juvenile Justice, Alternatives to Incarceration, Waste Management, Immigration, and Open Space Preservation in Suffolk County.

 

Mrs. Sepanski moved to Huntington in 1970 and is the mother of four children and a grandmother of 7.
