Have you ever wondered why traffic is slowed on Jericho Turnpike in Commack right around the holidays? Have you ever been curious about the long lines that wrap around the small shopping strip at 6166 Jericho Turnpike?

Councilwoman Susan Berland discovered what all the fuss was about when she recently joined employees from The HoneyBaked Ham Company, a local affiliate of the national ham-producer, to celebrate their 45th anniversary of business. After the reception of ham sandwiches and cake, the Councilwoman presented a proclamation to the store's manager Maria DiLorenzo and passed along her wishes for continued success.

The HoneyBaked Ham Company was started over 40 years ago in Michigan by Harry J. Hoenselaar. His method of cooking hams has sparked the opening of over 300 stores nationwide and has become quite the popular place to get a ham around the holidays.
