Huntington, NY - Councilwoman Susan A. Berland and the
Huntington Youth Council were on hand at Tuesday's Town Board meeting to present
Terry Smith of the Dolan Family Health Center with a check for $2,000.
The Huntington Youth Council raised this large sum of money by holding the
Second Annual "Town Throw Down", a day of various athletic events held at Park
Shore Day Camp. High schools in the Town of Huntington created teams that
battled against one another in events such as dodgeball, European handball,
capture the flag, pie-eating, soccer, volleyball, basketball and more.
At the end of the day, Harborfields High School emerged as the victor of the
Second Annual Huntington Youth Council's "Town Throw Down" and $2,000 was raised
for children's vaccinations at the Dolan Family Health Center.
"The Second Annual 'Town Throw Down' was a huge success and I commend the
Huntington Youth Council for their dedication to coordinating this event,"
commented Councilwoman Berland. "The 'Town Throw Down' brought high
schools together in the name of charity and healthy competition. The Dolan
Family Health Center is a wonderful facility that provides essential services
for Huntington residents and we are happy to support them. I would like to
thank the Budah family of Park Day Camp for graciously hosting this
event."
