Councilwoman Berland reading to the children of Mrs. Gaba's kindergarten class

Councilwoman Susan A. Berland joined Sunquam Elementary School in Dix Hills Thursday morning as a participant in the school's annual Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) Community Reader Event, whose 2012 theme is "Reading Takes You Places". The Councilwoman read several of her childhood books to Mrs. Gaba's kindergarten class.

"Participating in Sunquam Elementary School's Parents as Reading Partners Community Reader event was such a pleasure," commented Councilwoman Berland. "I applaud Sunquam Elementary School for instilling the tremendous value of reading to their young students."
