MISSION:
The Department of General
Services is responsible for routine and emergency maintenance repairs
of most Town owned facilities.
These
facilities include but are not limited to Town Hall, the Village Green complex,
Town parks, golf courses, historical cemeteries, municipal and commuter parking
lots.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT:
General Services performs all
maintenance on Town Buildings and properties such as carpentry, plumbing,
electrical work, and grounds maintenance. Operates central stores, copy/print
center, telecommunications, pager service, HVAC, and mail/messenger service for
the Town. Conducts all Maintenance of both the Crab Meadow and Dix Hills Town of
Huntington Golf Courses. Maintains the grounds and buildings at all Town Parks
throughout Huntington, including ballfields, tennis courts, handball courts,
parking lots, etc. The Department is responsible for the maintenance of Town
vehicles, equipment .

Highlights:
The Department of General Services
is always busy improving the infrastructure of the Town of Huntington. We strive
to improve and rebuild as many facilities, offices, parks, parking lots, fences,
etc. as possible and stay within constrained budget restrictions.
Some of our current and recent
projects;
- Repaving of the Huntington
Station Railroad parking lot. This project is rescheduled for 2008.
- Install new hot water
capabilities at the Senior Citizen Cafeteria center.
- Constructing new Restroom
facilities at Centerport Beach and Dix Hills
Park.
