The Recreation Administration Office was created to provide the Town of Huntington residents with recreational facilities, programs and leisure time activities.  The Office is responsible for overseeing the operations of all divisions of Dix Hills Park, Beaches, Crabmeadow Golf Course, Fee Classes, Playground and Developmentally Disabled Programs.

 

The Division of Cultural Affairs, within the Department of Parks & Recreation, serves as the Town of Huntington's liaison with public and private agencies and individuals to plan and promote the literary, dramatic, graphic, performing and cultural arts for the residents of the communities of the Town by way of demonstrations, performances, and exhibits.

Q: How can I obtain a Town of Huntington Recreation card?

A: Residents 13 years of age and older who register for programs or use any facility operated by the Town of Huntington Parks & Recreation Department will have to purchase a two-year Recreation Card or be charged the non-card holder fee.

Children under the age of 13 who wish to participate in our programs or use Town recreational facilities must be registered by a parent/guardian who has a valid Recreation Card. Parents can use each other's cards for registering their children.

Residents who have the following cards do not require the Recreation Card: Crab Meadow Golf Card, Rifle Range Annual Pass, or the Dix Hills Pool Membership Card.

To obtain the Recreation ID, residents are required to present two (2) forms of identification (showing address) to demonstrate Town residency. One must be a Driver's License or Non-Driver ID, the other must be one of the following: tax bill, utility bill, library card (with address), car registration, college ID. Teens will be required to be present and show one proof with a name and address (report card or library card). Parent's drivers licenses must be used for 2nd proof of residency.

A: Information on Various Parks, Recreation Facilities and Recreation Programs can be obtained by contacting Parks and Recreation Department at 351-3089 or by downloading the Parks and Recreation brochure located under the online library link on the Town of Huntington main page. Facility information is also located under the operating environment on the Parks & Recreation page.

Q: What are the office hours for the Parks and Recreation Office?

A: The office hours of Parks and Recreation are Mondays through Fridays 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Starting April 1st extended hours will be in effect on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM until July 1, 2009. Call 351-3089 for more information.

Q: Where is the Recreation Department located?

A: The Recreation Department is located on the 1st floor, Room 103 in Town Hall, 100 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743.

Q: When does the Huntington Parks and Recreation Program Guide come out?

A: The Program Guide is distributed to Huntington Residents through Suffolk Life Newspaper three times a year. In January, April and September.

Q: What is the advantage of a Resident having a Recreation card or a Golf card?

A: The advantages of a Resident cardholder are to save money when signing up for programs run by the Town of Huntington and to gain access to various town facilities at a reduced rate.

Q: What forms of payment are acceptable?

A: Town of Huntington Payment Policy Effective April 30, 2007. Payments over $25.00 must be made by Bank Check, Business Check, Personal Check or Money Order.

Q: How do I register for a Parks and Recreation program?

A: Registration of programs take place in Rm.103 at Parks and Recreation in Town Hall, 100 Main Street, Huntington, NY and Online at active.com/browse/huntingtonrecreation and at special registration sites at various times.

Q: How do I reserve a picnic area?

A: Residents and/or organization located within the Town of Huntington must submit a picnic application in person. Residents need to show a valid photo ID at the same time of applying for their permit with a $25.00 dollar application fee in addition to picnic permit fees.

OFFICE HOURS / REFUNDS

Please note that office hours for registration will be 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. No refunds provided by the Parks & Recreation Department unless the Department cancels the program.

No Medical/Accident insurance is available through the Town of Huntington. For weather related postponements or cancellations, tune to WALK (97.5 FM) or WBLI (106 FM) or call (631) 351-3101 for a taped message.
